FE colleges have changed hugely since 'incorporation' in 1992/3. Most are in fact significant multi-million pound businesses in their own right.
Whilst education and training provision is rightly at the core of what FE colleges do, KFE's colleges are all prime examples of multi-facetted organisations. Within each of our colleges there's a wide range of services and operations that have been established and developed to support our local-communities and businesses, whilst often making college life better and more accessible for our students and staff too.
The KFE Services page provides links to services delivered by each of our colleges. Some operate as separate businesses and others are linked ventures. In all cases they provide opportunities for student engagement and often employment with many also open to local communities.

About KFE4Skills
KFE4Skills is the annual skills competition showcase of the three colleges covering Kent and Medway's twelve main campus sites. At KFE4Skills, everyone gains a competition certificate and the finalists can even go forward to be selected to enter the regional and national World Skills UK competitions as a representative of one of Kent Further Education (KFE) colleges. It's a great way to get real exciting experience, improve that CV and get ahead of the rest in gaining a really great job and career in your field. For 2024 the competition will be split into 3 separate focused events across Creative Industries, Commercial Industries and Traditional Trade Industries. See the schedule below:
Commercial Industries - 29th February at MidKent College's Medway Campus
Creative Industries - 5th March at North Kent College's Dartford Campus
Trade Industries - 8th March at East Kent Colleges Group's Folkestone College

The various skills specs are developed in consultation with the designated leads from each college for each industry skill. The buttons will change to amber when draft and green when 'live'. KFE reserves the right to change and amend specifications/briefs up to the date of the event. Such amendments will be to ensure they are functional and deliverable and meet any health and safety or other requirements identified, including Covid-19 safe requirements.
